🙋‍♂️ Introduction

I recently got into Riichi Mahjong 🀄

It’s a very fun game for me as I enjoy TCG games (I played Hearthstone & Shadowverse previously) and Poker, and it felt like Riichi Mahjong has the elements of both of them that I enjoy.

Introduction

When playing offline games using Lutris on multiple machines, save files are not conveniently synced like using Steam. This can be solved by using Syncthing 🤓

Setup

🔰 Environment Setup

• For this tutorial, we will use the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
• These steps need to be done for every machines / PCs
• For the game files to sync, both machines need to be online. I personally set this up on my VPS which is running 24/7 to act as intermediary, but this is optional

📁 Configuring Lutris Save Files Folder

In recommended Lutris setup, each installed game is to have its own prefix folder. Save data can be found in ...\AppData\Local\* from each prefix folder. We will make a centralized save folder to make sync easier.

📝 Game Testing Data

Notes

• Turned out the previous 1000mV UV crashes in game. I bumped this to 1025mV and it runs stable now
• All games are rendered at 1080p upscaled to 4K
• The game tears when Frame Limit isn’t enabled in the Steam Overlay
• GPU Temp: ~67C when capped to 60fps (70~100W), ~82C when frame isn’t capped (120W)
• Cap the FPS to preserve GPU longevity

🙋‍♂️ Closing

Overall I’d say it’s a very good console alternative / replacement. And the savings from the games pricing in Steam vs Playstation / Switch definitely makes it more worthwhile in the long run.
